“Storage is where solar was ten years ago.” If you walk the show floor at any energy conference, you will hear this phrase ad nauseam. While the comparison may be getting old, there’s no denying that storage is still in its infancy. And like with any early market, newness can lead to uncertainty. And uncertainty breeds myths.

Located between San Francisco and Sacramento, the City of Benicia is an ideal place for electric vehicle (EV) drivers to stop and charge should their cars be low on range. The city turned to Geli to provide an intelligent fast EV charging system that would mitigate any increase in energy charges and provide a timely turnaround for those looking to top off their cars.

Learn why BMW turned to Geli to help with the implementation of their ground-breaking i ChargeForward EV demand response pilot program. In order for a fleet of BMW i3s to participate in the PG&E demand response market, the company needed to guarantee 100 kilowatts (kW) of demand reduction. To meet this requirement, BMW & Geli integrated a second-life EV battery system to firm the BMW i3s’ capacity, and are providing behind-the-meter services at the BMW Group Technology office in Mountain View, CA.

Minimal energy storage can achieve maximum demand charge savings. Geli worked with Woodlawn Associates, a leading energy project finance consulting firm, to determine the economic benefits of solar-plus-storage systems in a number of different markets.

Geli partnered with the California Housing Partnership, Center for Sustainable Energy, and Clean Energy Group to demonstrate how battery storage combined with solar photovoltaic (PV) systems can lead to significant electric bill savings for both property owners and residents of multifamily affordable rental housing in California.

In April 2016, Geli partnered with the Rocky Mountain Institute to host a webinar explaining the value of solar-plus-storage for commercial and industrial customers. Watch our video recordings to learn how combining energy storage and solar PV can increase customer savings and boost project ROI.

In July 2016, Geli partnered with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to host a webinar explaining how to successfully monetize demand savings with solar + storage contracts.
