In order for a fleet of BMW i3s to participate in the PG&E demand response market, the company needed to guarantee 100 kilowatts (kW) of demand reduction. To meet this requirement, BMW & Geli integrated a second-life EV battery system to firm the BMW i3s’ capacity, and are providing behind-the-meter services at the BMW Group Technology office in Mountain View, CA.
