GELI Energy Module

The GELI Energy Module (GEM) consists of a collection of Li-ion cells, which are physically, electrically, and thermally engineered to produce a long-lived storage system. GEM technologies introduce novel packaging techniques for easy assembly and safe shipping. Further, the GEM electronics provide comprehensive management for cell health, function, and maintenance. On-board charging and thermal management algorithms and operational profiles seamlessly communicate with the Energy Operator System, the Energy Computer, and the Internet.

GELI scientists have engineered the GEM to minimize heat generation and maximize operation in the reversible regime, resulting in an extraordinarily long-lived energy module. The GEM technology also alleviates the burden of maintenance and battery replacement because weak cells can be easily identified and replaced with minimal cost. The GEM mirrors, on a small scale, the advantages of networked energy storage on the grid — in that the whole is more robust with a distributed design.
