GENI is your first step on the path to energy awareness and local-global energy participation.
What is it?
GENI is an open web interface that lets you ask for and receive reliable answers to a broad range of questions about energy economics. What percentage of my energy comes from renewable sources? How much would I save if I purchased an energy efficient refrigerator? How many solar panels and how much energy storage do I need to meet my family’s energy needs? GENI uses databases of energy information and proprietary algorithms to return the answers.
How is it used?
Login to the GENI site and register to be part of a global initiative to map energy flows. Your registration helps you become energy aware and provides access to applications and databases of real-time information for making computations that dramatically improve your energy awareness. When you’re ready, GENI is there to help you be an energy operator using an Energy Computer — your personal micro utility for energy independence.
Who uses it?
- Utilities use GENI to calculate how much energy storage is necessary to “firm” the electrical grid.
- Homeowners use GENI for greater awareness of time-based utility rates to reduce electricity bills.
- Residents and businesses use GENI in conjunction with GELI Energy Computers to intelligently balance energy within their community micro grid.
