Fans Help Power Up Lollapalooza

PlanetGreen.com Discovery News: Fans Help Power Up Lollapalooza with Bikes, See-Saw, Boxes – A human-powered energy well can compete with the Prius.

One place to escape the Chicago sun at Lollapalooza 2010 is in the Prius Playground, a big tent that features models of the hybrid car and a human-powered energy well. The energy well was developed by Growing Energy Labs Inc. and is being shown off by Global Inheritance. Folks pedal bikes or take a ride on a see-saw to generate power for the well, which puts out 4 kilowatt hours of juice, or an amount comparable to the battery in the Pruis.
